Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa opens tenements for slum dwellers

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday opened 1,502 tenements in Perumbakkam built by the slum clearance board. The seven-floor tenements will be handed over to families, who have been staying in the unhygienic conditions in various parts of the city.
The project, which cost Rs 90.12 crore, is part of the massive housing programme initiated by the board in Perumbakkam.
Each unit costs Rs 6 lakh and is built on 390sqft.
