6.44 lakh TN students to get bicycles

The AIADMK government had launched a free bicycle scheme at a cost of Rs 230.72 Crores. 6.44 lakh students of government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu will benefit from the free bicycle scheme. For the first time, the cycles will be given in the beginning of the academic year. Nearly 2.86 lakh boys and 3.57 lakh girls will benefit from the initiative.
As a token gesture, TN chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday handed over some bicycles to Class 11 students at the secretariat.The students thanked the chief minister for making it easier for them to go to school.
