Twenty-five rathas carrying life-size idols of Swami Vivekananda can be seen touring the city as a pre-event to the sixth Hindu Spiritual and Services Fair to be held between July 8 and 14.
Swami Padmasthananda, secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in T Nagar, inaugurated the rath yatra on Sunday at the Triplicane Parthasarathy Temple.
The tour will cover over 1,000 schools including the Corporation schools, and spread the message of Vivekananda’s teachings and his life. The event aims at celebrating the synergy between Hindu spirituality and environmental sustainability by inculcating respect for ecology, women and teachers. The rathas will carry messages related to protecting forest, land, water, respect for womanhood and teachers.
