The number of death toll in the recent collapse of the multi-storeyed building in Moulivakkam near Porur has risen to 53.
A large rescue squad consisting of 750 policemen, 360 fire-fighting staff, 402 National Disaster rescue force, and other are engaged contiguous in the rescue activities on full swing.
Fire-fighting squad, with the help of 5 sniffing dogs have an important role of finding the persons caught in the debris.
The persons retrieved in hurt conditions are given immediate medical attention and treatment. A team of 30 doctors & nursed are available at the spot, ready to act.
The rescue operations have continued non-stop over the last 5 days & nights.
So far, 27 persons have been rescued alive.
As per the latest information, the death toll has risen to 53.
