India likely to face severe drought condition this year

Rainfall this year is expected to be very less, say a private meteorological department report. According to their report, there is going to be very minimal level of rainfall this year unlike past 50 years. In general, rainfall between 96 to 104 per cent is said to be normal. This year, only 91 per cent rainfall is expected. Owing to this condition, drought condition is expected to arise by over 60 per cent. States in the northwestern parts may face 80 per cent drought, the centre 75 per cent and southern regions 50 per cent are expected.
Apart from all these, heavy showers are expected in the month of August this year. On obtaining these distressing reports from the meteorological department, water level in major reservoirs were noted down and it is found that there is a significant decrease in them!
