The State government has determined to streamline the Chennai Monorail project to exert a pull on promising developers for execution under the public-private joint venture.
During the assembly on Wednesday, Senthil Balaji, the transport minister said that the project would be streamlined for a span of about 43.48 kilometers that constitutes two corridors, so as to magnetize the private tenders.
The first lineage will be a stretch of about 20.68 km from Poonamallee to Kathipara. This lineage will have a connection from Vadapalani to Porur. The second lineage will be of 22.80 km from Tambaram to Velachery and this line will ink Vandaloor.
The monorail project has been in the gossip for many years. In its past tenure, the AIADMK government has declared its target to instigate this project.
After AIADMK party yields its power in 2011, the monorail project got a creative charter of life with Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha eager on going forward with its accomplishment. During the initial phase of this year, the routes were re-aligned. Additionally, the government is also eager in executing monorail in Coimbatore.
Introduction of Smart Travel Cards:
The Smart travel cards are the prepaid tickets that can be capped up, will be initiated soon for passenger wellbeing. This smart card practice will be first host in Chennai, for which the tender is going on now.
