Meteorological Centre about the prospects of monsoon!

Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there would only be average rainfall during this monsoon period.
Southwest monsoon rainfall period is from June till September. As per statistics, there has been a rainfall of 241.6mm rain from June till 17th September. This is 8% least that what was expected. Nilgiris had the highest rainfall to the level of 825.9 mm.
The Director, Chennai Meteorological Centre, Mr. S. R. Ramanan told though there is 8% shortfall, the rainfall so far can be considered as average. It is normal to expect the rainfall to fall short or exceed by up to 19%. This monsoon will have an average rainfall.
