Prices of onion & cauliflower come down!

The prices of onion and cauliflower have come down in the Koyambedu wholesale market.

With an in the quantity of vegetable being received at Koyambedu wholesale market, the prices of all vegetables have tended to fall.

The public have been especially happy about the fall in price of onion.

The prices of ginger & cauliflower have also come down.

The president of the Koyambedu wholesale Market Tomato traders Association, Mr. Thiagarajan informed that vegetables are brought daily to the Koyambedu wholesale market from Andhra, Karnataka, Maharashtra as well from other districts in Tamil Nadu by lorries, trucks  & mini-vans. There have been heavy rains in these areas leading to higher quantity of vegetables transported.

The quantity of onion transported from Andhra has increased; the quantity of cauliflower transported from several places in Andhra has also increased. Similarly, quantity of ginger transported from Kerala & Karnataka has also increased. This has caused the fall in prices of these vegetables.

However, the retail markets in Chennai city have been selling at least Rs. 5/- to Rs. 10/- per kg higher than the wholesale market rate.
