Chennaites get ready for more rains

Chennaites might have to gear up for rainy days till Sunday as the Met office has predicted moderate showers accompanied with thunder for the next two to three days.
The wet spell is due to upper air circulation phenomenon over the Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lankan and Tamil Nadu coasts. Officials also added that southern districts of Tamil Nadu might receive more rainfall than Chennai in the coming days.
In the line of fire for its poor monsoon preparedness, the Chennai Corporation on Thursday formed high level committees headed by IAS officers in each of its 15 zones to monitor the flood control measures in the city.
"The committee will have to submit an action report to the corporation commissioner every day. People can call 1913 or 25619237, 25387235 to register complaints about water stagnation, potholes and tree fall" said an official.
