Chennaites to experience rains today

A new weather system is expected to bring rains from Friday.According to Meteorological Department, the upper air circulation over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal may begin to have its impact on the State from Thursday. This may break the hiatus in northeast monsoon activity over the region.
Officials said there were chances for considerable rain over the city on Friday and Saturday. The December-like chill weather that Chennai has been experiencing may withdraw once there was more cloud cover in the next few days.
As there is nearly a month left in the northeast monsoon season in the State, Chennai may get more rainfall to make up for the deficit in the coming days.
