A woman driver made test drive of Metro Rail between Chennai Koyambedu and Alandur at a speed of 80 km. On completing the test drive, she pointed the experience to be very accomplishing.
Excerpts from Chennai Metro Rail official about the test drive:
As the first phase of Chennai Metro Rail services, the train facility will be made available between Koyambedu and Alandur covering a distance of 10km. This is right now set for commencement by March 2015. Railway tracks, automatic traffic signals, electricity supplies, and other requirements are being arranged currently.
Works to set up stations at Koyambedu, CMBT, Arumbakkam, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, Ekkatuthangal and Alandur are over. Other works including setting up of ticket counters, officers’ room, facilities for passengers, etc are on the go.
Amidst these processes, the test run between Chennai Koyambedu and Alandur took place at a speed of 80km. Furthermore, communication arrangements between control room and train were also tested.
Other procedures including monitoring of train, control systems, etc are being carried out. CCTV cameras, information boards, radio, etc were also tested and each of these was successful.
