17th Metro Train arrives in Chennai!

Out of the total of 42 trains for Chennai Metro Rail Project, the 17th Train arrived at Koyambedu workshop by road.
 
The train was manufactured at Sri City, Tada, Andhra Pradesh and transported by trucks to Koyambedu workshop.
 
This is the 8th train made in India. 
                    
A total of 42 trains are planned and each train will have 4 coaches.
 
The contract for the manufacture of trains has been given to the Brazil Company Alstom.
The first 9 trains were manufactured at Brazil and the balance will be made in Sri City, AP.
 
The first 9 trains from Brazil have already been shipped and reached Koyambedu workshop.
 
The balance trains are transported to Koyambedu by road as and when ready. The 8th train from Tada has reached now.

Each train costs Rs.  9 Crores. The budget for the complete lot is Rs. 1471.29 Crores.
 
Presently, 17 trains are received and ready for operation in Koyambedu.
