Chennai Metro Rail services in 3 more routes

Here is a good news for all Chennaites! The city will have Metro rail services in 3 more routes at a stretch of 76 km. Discussions for the same will soon be made, say Metro Rail officials.
 
With the support of state and central government, and Japanese units, Chennai Metro Rail projects are on the go in two routes now. The first phase of this is between Vannarapettai and Chennai Airport covering a distance of 23.05 km. The second one covers Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount covering 22.50 km. Both the projects are now being carried out.
 
These routes will have 19 stations in the subway and 13 in the elevated track. On the whole, 32 stations are being set up. In the first phase, metro rail service will be made available between Koyambedu and Alandur running through a stretch of 10 km, and the needed works are completed too. Following this, services in three more routes are thought of and the discussions are on. Speaking about this, official from Chennai metro rail said a team will soon head to Chennai under the lead of Security commissioner and the Koyambedu-Alandur metro rail services will be inspected.
