It’s 1 in every 4 in metro rail for women

One out of four compartments in metro rail will be allotted for women, say recent sources. Further, when a passenger boards the train from a wrong station, he/she will not be charged with penalty, rather excessive charge on ticket will be imposed.
 
Metro rail service between Chennai Koyambedu and Alandur is set to commence very soon. Necessary final stage inspection works will be carried out by officials and final approval will be given this month. About 21 metro rails are now readily available for service. Before commencing the metro rail service, these train need to have undergone test run for about 1600 km for which works are on night and day. Final stage testing was done between Koyambedu and Alandur yesterday. Test runs will also continue next week.
 
Following the commencement of metro rail service, smart cards will be given to the public which will be helpful to commute in train regularly. This will then be followed by giving out special cards for travelers. These cards can be topped up in the metro rail stations. The card need to be swiped into the ticketing machine only after which the gateway to enter the train will get opened.
