Koyambedu-Alandur Metro Rail security checks starts today!

The first stage of the security checks of the track testing of the Metro Rail Project in the Koyambedu – Alandur section has started today, Monday, 5th April.

3-member team headed by an officer from the railway safety board are reaching Chennai today.

Chennai Metro Rail Project senior officials informed that a track distance of 13 km had been completed in the project and various tests and test-runs have been carried out successfully. Testing has been conducted at a maximum speed of 80 kmph.

It is planned to run 10 trains in the section between Koyambedu & Alandur. When there is more demand, the plan is run a train every 2.5 minutes.

The coaches have got all features to facilitate women, differently-abled passengers for the best safety. In the first phase, trains will be run at a speed of 35 kmph.

A 3-member team of senior officials will be came to Chennai today. The safety checks are to be carried out in 2 phases.

In the first phase, all coaches, security features in coaches, and signals will be checked for performance.

Checking will be carried out between 9.00 AM & 2.30 PM.  The checking team is set to carry out thorough testing travelling in the trains.

A report will be prepared and sent to the Ministry of Railways. Response is expected in 2 weeks.

Then, the 2nd stage testing of security will be carried out. Again, reply to the report sent is expected within a week or two,. Detailed analysis will be conducted and the permission will be given to start public service.

The inauguration date will be decided and the details regarding fare & the date of inauguration will be announced.
