IITians find a new way to control global warming

Posted on: 18/Apr/2015 3:27:23 PM
While world leaders are all busy with discussions and talks to reduce and prevent global warming, energy crisis and depletion of resources, a brainy team of Indian Institute of Technology is here with a brilliant solution that can solve all the three issues.

This project involves various steps each of which helps converting the causing agent of one of these issues to solve the other two. This will be demonstrated and explained in-detail at 11th IIT open house which is set to get held on 18th April at their institute.

With an exorbitant increase in carbon dioxide, it has become indispensable to minimize generation and sequestration of this gas. Headed by Anil Verma, this research group has made an attempt to reduce the quantity of this gas in the air, and also convert the same into useful products.

Speaking about it, Verma, an associate professor of the department of chemical engineering says the gas is converted useful with the help of electrochemical conversion process which can at last generate methane and other valuable products. This conversion in turn requires renewable sources such as sun and wind. The entire process saves both time and money, they say.
