CMRL officials have mentioned that they have decided to operate 14 metro rail coaches on Koyambedu- Alandur stretch. It has been decided to commence rail services between Koyambedu- Alandur stretches which will be of 13 kilometres. A metro rail comprises of four coaches. So on the whole it has been decided to operate 42 metro trains. The coaches are being manufactured by Alstom.
Nine coaches are being manufactured in Brazil and the balance 33 coaches are being manufactured on Tada in Andhra Pradesh. All the coaches manufactured in Brazil have been shipped to Chennai. CMRL had 21 trains in hands. The duration of the journey will be between 15 to 30 minutes. Out of 42 trains, only 14 trains will be operated in this stretch. 10 trains will be operated daily and the other four trains will be used as spare trains.
