One more metro rail coach arrives from Sri City

One more indigenously manufactured metro rail coach has arrived from Sri City at Koyambedu Metro rail workshop. In order to lessen the traffic congestion in Chennai, the Metro Rail is being constructed in two paths at a cost of Rs 14,600 Crores. The metro rail coaches are being procured from Alstom Coach Factory in Brazil. 42 rail formations consisting of four coaches are being procured at a cost of Rs 1471 Crores.
It was decided to produce 9 rail formations in Brazil and balance 33 coaches in Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. 9 Rail Coach formations have been shipped from Brazil to Chennai. 21 rail coaches have been dispatched from Sri City to Chennai. At this juncture one more coach has arrived in the Koyambedu Rail Workshop.
