Chennai Metro rail stations are set up in 2 levels. Procure the ticket from the ground floor and then proceed to the first floor. You have to show the ticket at the entrance for opening. As soon as the train comes get in quickly. Once the passengers are in, the doors close automatically.
Passengers cannot wait for long hours in Metro stations. If you skip the 1st train, you must get into the next one!
You will be charged extra if you wait for long hours. This extra charge will be based on the entry time to the station & the exit time from the station.
Token system is available for a single trip. Buy the token & travel. For example, a commuter travelling for work can drop the token in the box kept in the railway station while returning from the work. Just like the season tickets issued for MTC Bus travel, tickets for 1-day travel, 1-month travel, etc are planned.
