Plastic rupee notes to be introduced soon

A Reserve Bank of India (RBI) official has said that plastic rupee notes will be introduced as a trial in the country soon. Speaking at an event in Chennai, he said that, at first, Rs. 10 notes will be introduced. After research on the initiative, the RBI will introduce other denominations at regular intervals.
The Central Government had, last year, announced that plastic notes will be introduced in 5 cities - Kochi, Mysuru, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur and Shimla.
Plastic currency is more durable than paper currency. Also, the plastic ones are not easy to duplicate.
