The police department has requested that people going to southern districts to avoid GST road.

On the occasion of Deepavali many people living in Chennai will go to the native places situated in the southern districts. Because of this there are chances of traffic congestion in the GST Road. Hence private vehicle can avoid going via Tambaram and Perungalathur.   Instead they can travel via Rajiv Gandhi Road, Thoraipakkam, Kelambakkam and Thirukazhukundram to reach Chengalpet-Trichy highway.   Similarly one can take ECR road to reach Chengalpet-Trichy highway via Akkarai, Muttukadu, Kovalam, Mahabalipuram by pass, Karunguli and Thirukazhukundram.

People can also travel from Poonamallee High Road  to Vandalur GST Road via Maduravayal junction, Velappan Chavadi, Savitha Dental College, Poonamallee, Nazareth Pettai and new 400 meter outer ring road.

In order to avoid traffic jam, police have advised people to use the above routes.
