CMRL has introduced a new season ticket to travel between Alandur and Koyambedu. For a trip of 10 times between Alandur-Koyambedu, the rate has been fixed at Rs 320. A commuter has to pay Rs 320 in metro rail station and get a Trip Smart Card.
Metro rail operation between Alandur and Koyambedu began on 29th June. There was a great response amongst the people because it was on par with international standard. Since there rates of metro rail were expensive than other modes of transport the patronage became less. There were less crowds even during office days.
Metro Rail has been taking many initiatives to increase the traffic. As a first step during the month of September CMRL introduced Tourist Travel Card. The commuters who avail this facility can get 20% on the whole price. This has become very popular amongst the people.
Now CMRL has introduced Trip Smart Card. There are three types of travel cards in this. The cards can be used for 10 tips, 40 trips and 60 trips.
For example, a commuter has to pay Rs 400 for 10 trips from Alandur to Koyambedu but now the commuter can pay Rs 320 by buying this Trip Card. This trip card can be used for 10 trips in 7 days.
For 40 trips between Alandur and Koyambedu it has been fixed at Rs 1280. For 60 trips between Alandur and Koyambedu, the rate has been fixed at Rs 1920. Trip Smart Card can be obtained in the 7 metro rail stations.
