The metro rail works between DMS and Saidapet was stopped after CMRL terminated Gammon India`s contract for delay in the completion of work. Now L&T has commenced work on the construction of the stations between the AG-DMS and Saidapet stations after Chennai Metro Rail awarded the contract in the first week of December.
The work had begun on this stretch a few days ago and the workers are currently in the process of dewatering the Saidapet station and the tunnel as they were flooded during the rains in the first week of December.
It may take about two years for this contractor to complete the work. The contractor will be carrying it out at a cost of about Rs. 640 crore.
