Chennaites can now adopt a park

You Chennaites have a a chance to adopt and maintain a park in your neighborhood.The Greater Chennai Corporation on Wednesday launched an adopt a park scheme to allow residents associations and NGOs to maintain parks in the city.
The corporation has 503 parks across the city, but shortage of staff and fund continues to affect maintenance of several of them.
Under the adopt a park scheme, interested applicants can build new parks with facilities including play area and walking pathway and maintain it for a period of three years.
The scheme is open to individuals, corporate firms and other such organizations. They can adopt an existing park and maintain it for a year.
The corporation will issue an adoption certificate for the entire period and the organization maintaining the park can display its name and logo at an approved location.
