Did you know that a banana peel has many uses. Next time you eat a banana, think about these ways your can use the peel before throwing it away.

For one, banana peels help soften meat. Before roasting the meat. add the peel to your pan. The peel keeps the moisture intact and helps in tenderising the meat.

The peel of the banana contains antioxidants, Vitamin B and potassium. These ingredients work as a great moisturiser and exfoliating agent for your skin.  Mash one banana along with the peel, add two spoons of sugar and a pinch of olive oil. This home made scrub can do wonders for your skin.

Banana peels are wonderful fertilisers. In a jar of water, soak a banana peel for a while. Use this water to fertilise plants. Phosphate in the peel augments growth of plants and grass. Peels are used especially for rose flowers. They are buried near rose plants as protection against pests.

The potassium in the peel makes a great shoe shine for your leather shoes. Rubbing the peel in a circular motion on your shoes and applying a shoe shiner after that makes the shine last longer.

Want whiter teeth? Gently rub your teeth with the inside of the banana peel for two minutes. Potassium and magnesium in the peel removes stains.

In a container, add banana peel with apple cider vinegar and shake well. Cover the top of the container with plastic to release the scent of bananas. Keeping this in your garden will reduce the number of insects.
