Amma complete health check-up scheme to be introduced shortly

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had earlier announced in the Legislative Assembly that Complete health check-up schemes will be started in the Government General Hospitals at a very low cost for the benefit of the poor people.

The principal & Director (in-charge) of Chennai Government Medical Education and General Hospital, Ms. Vimala informed that until now, people had to visit several hospitals for a complete physical health check-up. Under this Amma complete health check-up Scheme, all tests can be conducted at a single place. The patients need not have to visit several places.

The people coming for the complete health check-up can arrive in the morning at the hospital and have all the tests completed before the afternoon and return to their residences.

Breakfast will be served in the hospital. They can return the next day to collect the check-up results.

After that, they can consult the relevant doctors and get medical advice.

During this complete health check-up, 11 tests including blood, kidney, fat, liver, thyroid, sugar, X-Ray, ECHO, uterus, breast cancer, and deficiency of vitamin D.

There are 3 kinds of payment fixed for this Amma complete health check-up scheme.

Basic tests will cost Rs. 1000/-.Other tests will cost Rs. 2000/- & Rs. 3000/-/

For women`s complete health check-up scheme, the cost is fixed  at Rs. 3000/-.

It is worth comparing this with private hospitals where the complete health check-up costs is between Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 20000/-.

Amma complete health check-up is intended to provide the same facility at a considerably reduced cost.

Once this new scheme is implemented, the current scheme of health check-up for Rs, 250/- will be stopped.
