How to regularise text messages when you switch from an iPhone to an Android

Say you have changed your phone from an iPhone to an Android. Its probable that your test messages are still going to your previous handset. This would happen if you did not turn off the iMessage service on your old iPhone.

If you still have your iPhone, here is how you can change the settings. Start it up, open the Settings icon on the Home Screen. Select Message and turn off the iMessage service. Now, go back to iOS Settings. Select FaceTime. Turn off the FaceTime service. If you have used the same SIM card between phones, put it in to the iPhone while doing these steps. Return to new phone. Now, text messages will arrive on your Android phone.

If you do not have your iPhone with you, or you are unable to switch it on for some reason, go to Apple`s website. De-register your phone number from the iMessage service. Go to selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage. Enter your phone number and wait for a six digit code from Apple to confirm that you have stopped the iMessage service.
