701 New buses & 65 new mini-buses at Rs. 144 Crores: CM Jayalalithaa inaugurates

Transport services play a significant role in the economic growth of the state.
With the increasing population in the state, both villages & cities keep expanding.
In order to meet the increasing transport services demands of the public, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and her cabinet Ministers have been implementing various schemes including introduction bus services in new routes, introduction of new services, etc in an earnest trend.
As a part of the above activities, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa flagged off and inaugurated 701 new buses and 65 new mini-buses at a cost of Rs.144.47 Crores.
The break-up details: Chennai Metro transport Corporation -52, Villupram government Transport Corporation - 97, Salem government Transport Corporation - 85, Coimbatore government Transport Corporation - 93, Kumbakonam government Transport Corporation - 202, Madurai Government Transport Corporation - 154, Thirunelveli government Transport Corporation - 18, and Chennai Metro transport Corporation - 65 mini-buses in 30 routes.
