Microsoft acquires Xamarin

In its announcement made today, Microsoft has stated that it has acquired Xamarin, a firm that makes it possible to develop native apps on various platforms from a single shared code base.
 
Ever since the global partnership made in 2013, Microsoft and Xamarin have been working close to each other to facilitate app developers in building native apps on several platforms.
 
Since when their partnership was announced, there have been various rumors spread about Xamarin acquisition, in spite of the announcement made by CFO Bryan Morris stating that they are only eyeing on IPO.
 
However, now, according to what the official blog post by Scott Guthrie, Microsoft`s Cloud and Enterprise Group Executive Vice President states, this has become official. There is no information made on the other terms though.
 
In his blog post, he has added that they are set to work in detail to provide topnotch developer tools and services that will help developers in creating seamless mobile apps.
 
As of now, there are over 15,000 customers with Xamarin. This is inclusive of Coca-cola bottling, Thermo Fisher, JetBlue, Honeywell, Alaska Airlines, etc. This acquisition will set Microsoft free to make massive improvements in its own developer tools and bring betterment in mobile app development and other apps for Windows 10 devices.
 
His post also added that Xamarin, Visual Studio and its team services, and Azure will extend a wholesome app development solution that equips with everything needed to develop an app, test it and deliver. We are so eager about how developers handle it.
 
The future plans regarding Xamarin will be rolled out later on. A sum of $82 million of funding is raised by Xamarin. This includes funding from investors like Lead Edge Capital, Insight Venture Partners, Ignition Partners, Charles River Ventures, Floodgate, etc.
