Tamil Nadu state now under EC control

Last evening the Election Commission has announced the poll dates. The election is to be held on 16th May. The model code of conduct has come into effect immediately, and the state administration will come under the watch of the EC. The model code is applicable to all decisions and policy making which is undertaken by the state government. The entire bureaucracy on election duty in the five states will be fully "under the command and control" of the Election Commission.
The AIADMK regime will now play the role of a caretaker government until the new assembly is constituted. The term of the outgoing assembly ends on May 22 and a new government will have to be sworn in before this date.
