Mahasivaratri poojas at Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple

One of the most important and biggest festivals of India - Mahashivartri - will be celebrated in India on March 7 amidst much fanfare with utmost bhakti, shraddha and aastha.

This day is of great significance as it marks the union of Shiva and Shakti.

In Tamil Nadu special Mahasivaratri poojas will be performed for the presiding deities of Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai all through the night of March 7. Abhishekam will be performed at one-hour intervals for Lord Sundareswarar from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and for Goddess Meenakshi from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Devotees can deposit pooja materials with the temple authorities by the evening of March 7.The temple will remain open throughout the night.
