India has procured aircraft parts exceeding $500 million in 2015 from the Airbus Group. The aerospace major has said that this procurement comes from over 6000 people who work for 45 suppliers in the country. These suppliers are from both the public and private sectors, and provide engineering and IT services, aero-structures, detail parts and systems, materials and cabins to the group for several of its leading platforms, including the A380, A350 XWB, A320 family, A330, C295W, A400M, Eurofighter and Tiger.

Airbus now hopes to exceed the $2 billion mark in cumulative procurement by 2020. Speaking about this, a senior Airbus official said, Indian suppliers are a cornerstone of our globalisation strategy. Many of the projects with our Indian partners have been very successful. We are already making in India via our suppliers and this is independent of any offset obligations. If our proposals to produce the C295W military transporter in India together with Tata and military helicopters along with Mahindra materialise, we will help set-up system integration and final assembly lines.

HAL or Hindustan Aeronautics Limited makes more than 50 percent of the A320 forward passenger doors worldwide. The flap track beams for the A320 family are made by Dynamatic Technologies. Other companies that are tied up with Airbus are Mahindra Aerospace, UTC Aerospace Systems,  Tata Advanced Materials Ltd, Wipro, Infosys among others.
