New technology for the landing the space shuttles: NASA’s experiment a success

NASA has tested a new heat prevention technology for the safe landing of the space shuttles sent to other planets.

NASA has been conducting extensive research on other planets including Mars. It has sent several space shuttles for this purpose.

However, there are several hurdles encountered while researching by sending and landing space shuttles in other planets. There is the risk of the space shuttle getting damaged due to the gravity in the planet and high temperatures prevailing.

While entering the boundary of the planet, the space shuttle may get burnt to excessive prevailing heat. Another possibility is that the space shuttle may get crashed on the ground due to the high gravity in the planet.

The engineers researching in NASA`s Langley research Centre have discovered a new technology.

They have created a circular shaped device (resembling a doughnut). This device has been named Taurus.

The technology is known as Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD).

Employing this technology, the device Taurus will land on the new planet just like a parachute. The device will also act a shield protecting the space shuttle from the excessive heat encountered in the new planet.

Testing procedures like fitting the device on the space shuttle & removing it, etc have been carried out with remarkable success.

NASA has now planned to make a larger Taurus device to be linked to the rocket (space shuttle) and launch.

It is gathered that this will be tested while the space shuttle (rocket) lands on Mars.
