Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, donated a battery-operated car to the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple here on Sunday, shortly after offering worship to the presiding deity.
The battery-operated car is valued at about Rs.4.5 lakh, and can seat four people besides driver.
The vehicle speed can be adjusted in a speed between 5 kmph and 30 kmph and the onetime charge would run up to 60 kms and after each 60 km, the battery should be recharged for five hours.
While, the six-seater vehicle was donated by the CM, the 12-seater vehicle was purchased by the HR &CE. This is the second temple, after Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, to have battery vehicles for devotees.
