Of late, there has been a spurt in new industries based on Aadhar card. The news is gathered that there are several internet browsing centers & Xerox shops which offer printing Aadhar cards charging from Rs. 50.- to Rs. 200/-.

Central Government`s Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has clearly explained that there is no Aadhar Smart-card in existence.

Aadhar card is a special individual unique 12- digits identity card issued by the central government`s UIDAI.

This is meant to be used to easily get the welfare schemes offered by government & non-government agencies, subsidies, and banking services as an individual identity device.

In this scenario, the permanent Aadhar Service Centres give the plastic Aadhar cards (in place of the original paper cards which is liable to be torn easily) charging Rs. 30/- for this service.

The Director if UIDAI, Ajay Bhushan Pandey, has informed that news has been gathered that some shops.individuals have been offering Aadhar Smart cards by laminating the original Aadhar card and printing it on plastic cards charging from Rs. 50/- to Rs. 200/-.

UIDAI has clearly explained that the so-called smart cards carry only the details as per the original Aadhar Card printed in plastic and it is not at all a smart card.

The Public has been notified that they need not pay this extra charge for getting the smart card. The public could be aware that even the simple original paper version of Aadhar card is officially valid .

Central Government has also warned that stringent legal action will be taken  if e-commerce companies like Amazon & Flipkart advertise these agencies which offer Smart Aadhar Cards.
