No risk of brain cancer by mobile phones

According to researchers, there is raise in brain cancer only in those aging 70 years and above.
A new study result states that brain cancer and increase in mobile phone usage are not related in any way. The study also claims that there is increase in tumor levels over 30 years in Australia in spite of wide use of such devices.
In about 19,858 men and 14,222 women with brain cancer belonging to Australia between years 1982 and 2012, the relation between age and gender specific incidence rates were studied by researchers from University of Sydney. As there are a lot of people using mobile phones for over two decades and more, there is hike in age adjusted brain cancer only in male but in case of women, the rise is seen only in those above 30 years of age.
According to researchers, there is hike in brain cancer in those aging above 70. Such increase in incidence started in the age 1982, well before the beginning of vast use of mobile phones which was in 1987 and hence this cannot be explained by it.
The researchers also made a comparison on the incidence of brain cancer in this time period with that of the total number of new brain cancer cases that are likely in case if the brain cancer caused by mobile phones are true. According to the testing model, there were assumptions about a 10 year lag period from the beginning of use of mobile phones to the proofs for brain cancer cases.
The model considered that these mobile phones will cause about 50 percent surge in incidence as compared to increase in brain cancer, according to researchers.
The total number of expected cases in 2012 was 1866 whereas the number recorded was just 1435.
Non-ionizing radiations are emitted from mobile phones. These are of very low energy that can merely excite the electrons which in turn can be sufficient to just heat up, said Simon Chapman from University of Sydney. The results of the findings are published in journal Cancer Epidemiology.
