In a polling booth located in Kumari district of southern most part of Tamil Nadu, there are just 9 voters. Election officers are set to travel a distance of 152 km to carry all voting machines, to note.

The polling booth at Pechiparai Panchayat belonging to Padmanabapuram assembly is located on a hill at Melkodhaiyaru. Here, there are hardly 9 voters. Of these, 6 are men and 3 are women. To travel from Keezh Kodhaiyaru to Melkodhaiyaru, there are not enough transportation facilities. Hence, winch arrangements are made, connecting the two places. As election officials will not be able to carry all the voting equipment using winch, during each and every election, they ought to travel for 152 km via Nagarkovil, Panagudi, Kalakkadu, Seranmagadevi, Kallidikurichi, Manimutharu, and Maanjaalai to reach Melkodhaiyaru.

For the election set to take place on 16th of May, election officers will carry all the equipments on 15th of May. During the previous election in 2011, there were 16 voters, but there are just 9 now. The election booth with least number of voters is this.

The election commission is so avid about achieving 100 percent voting this year. Their efforts to travel all the way to reach the hill top to get their votes is a clear proof for all their efforts.
