National Disaster Rescue team arrives in Chennai

The well-marked low-pressure area is centered over South-West Bay of Bengal about 90 km south-southeast of Chennai. The depression is likely to move north-northwestwards (along the coast of Tamil Nadu and South coastal Andhra Pradesh). Because of this there are heavy rains in Chennai.
As a precautionary measure, 270 personnel of National Disaster Rescue team have arrived in Chennai from Arakkonam and Nellore. 24 rescue boats have also arrived with them. They are stationed in Chennai Adyar and Manali. They will be formed into 6 groups. Each group will go to various parts of Chennai for rescue operations.
