RTO officials to check school vans on 28th and 31st

9 RTOs of Chennai District will inspect the school vehicles under their jurisdiction on 28th and 31st. Transport Commissionerate has ordered that the fitness certificate should be given if there is any safety infringement.
37,107 vehicles are operated in schools and colleges located in Tamil Nadu. Every year a fitness inspection of school buses and vans transporting children for road-worthiness is being conducted. For the last few weeks fitness inspection is conducted in various districts.
The officials will inspect the condition of the brakes, doors, emergency windows, seats, tyres, fire extinguishers and engines. The vehicles must also be fitted with first aid boxes and speed governors.
Apart from this, the school vehicles drivers vision will also will be tested. Nearly 1800 school vehicles are to be tested on the said dates.
