It has been a regular practice to organise undergraduate education for the prisoners with a life-term sentence. From the last year, classes on Computer animation have also been included. 25 prisoners were trained.

Under the noble consideration that if the opportunity of learning some craft is provided to the prisoners, there are good possibilities for them to reform and come back to lead a normal life, the prisoners in Puzhal jail are being given an industrial education.

On this arrangement, 25 life-prisoners were trained on computer animation. The event of awarding certificates for them was organised in the West jail Complex yesterday (Sunday, 5th June).

The Director of India Social College Dr. Jacob, the registrar of the Open University, Dr. S Vijayan, Examination Controller Jaffer, and Departmental Head Thiyagarajan participated and distributed the certificates. Jail Superintendents Priyadarshini, S Shanmugam, and Robert Rajendran gave special addresses.

Teachers Lawrence, Amaladas, Thirugnanasambandham, and security Vinod made the arrangements for the function.

There were experience-sharing by the prisoners and some cultural programmes as well.
