Dr Ambedkar Law University increases the upper limit for LLB Hons course

School of Excellence in Law is located in the premises of TN Dr Ambedkar Law University. This law school offers B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Degree Course 5 Years and LL.B.(Hons.) Degree Course 3 Years. Now the upper age limit for LL.B.(Hons.) Degree Course 3 Years has been increased from 25 years to 30 years.
Several High Courts have removed the age limit for the three year’s law courses. In the year 2013, the Indian Bar Council has also stopped fixing the age limits.
Accordingly the Tamil Nadu government also made efforts to put an end the age limit in the year 2015.
The Madras High Court Bench in Madurai stayed the operation of a clause prescribing no age limit for admission into a three year L.L.B. course offered at various Government law colleges affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University as well as a L.L.B. (Hons.) course offered by the university’s School of Excellence in Law in Chennai. Finally the Madras High Court quashed the Tamil Nadu government order on age limit.
Accordingly the upper age limit of 30 years was fixed for open category candidates and 35 years for reserved categories for the three-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) course. Similarly the upper age limit of 25 years was fixed for open category candidates and 27 years for reserved categories for the three-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) course offered by School of Excellence in Law.
At this juncture, the University has announced that upper age limit has been raised to 30 years for the LLB Hons course for the academic year 2016-2017.
As per this for the open category candidates: The candidate should have been born after 1.6.1986 and should not have completed 30 years as on 1.6.2016.
For SC and ST categories: The candidate should have been born after 1.6.1986 and should not have completed 35 years as on 1.6.2016.
