Chennai Meteorological Centre report: 40% excess rains in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has released a report mentioning that there has been 40% excess rains as compared to the normal rainfall in Tamil Nadu.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Mr. Balachandran, explained tht the southwest monsoon has intensified in the states of Kerala and Karnataka. So, there are bright prospects of rain in the districts close to the Western ghat hill range like Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Kanyakumari.

A maximum rainfall of 6 cm has been recorded in the areas of Chinnakkallaru and Naduvattam in the last 24 hours.

The Chennai Metro City will have a cloudy weather. There are prospects of rain in the evening or night. There has been an excess rain of 40% in this June as compared to normal.

The water level in the Bhavanisagar Dam in Erode district has gone up by 3 in a single day. The rain-catching areas in North Kerala Nilgiri district, there has been widespread rain over the last 3 days. So, the inflow to the dam has increased and the level has been rising rapidly.

As of today (Thursday, 30th June) morning, the dam level was 45.98 and the inflow to the dam was 6316 cft.  The farmers explained that if this continues, there are possibilities of opening the lower Bhavani canal during the month of August.
