Tamil Nadu Finance Minister O.Pannerselvam today presented TN Assembly budget for the coming financial year 2011-12.
Following are the highlights of the budget:
- New dam across Cauvery River at Rs. 32 crores
- Rs. 5000 crore to maintain 2500 km Road Highways. World Bank aid to be used.
- Arasu Cable TV to be launched soon
- Rs. 4500 crore for free rice through Public Distribution System
- Rs. 248 crores for Solar Powered Street Lights in Villages. 20,000 street Lights per year
- No Power Cut from August 2012
- 115 Lakh metric tonnes Food Production Planned
- Rs. 3000 crore crop loan to be given
- Industrial corridor along Madurai - Thoothukudi
- Fiscal Deficit 2.9 per cent
- Rs. 130 crore for Judiciary
- Rs. 400 Croes for Hogenakkal Water Scheme
- Rs. 1000 crore for 60000 free Green Houses
- Rs. 51 crore to modernize Tamilnadu Police
- Rs. 147 crores Tamilnadu Fire Department
- Rs. 146 crore for Tamil Nadu Prison
- Annadanam Scheme to be extended to 106 more Temples
- Rs. 2000 for Class XII students to check drop out
- National Law School in SriRangam
- New Engineering Collge in Podinayakanallur
- Government Vetenary College in Tirunelveli
- Chennai Police and Puranagar Police to be integrated
- Rs. 4000 aid Fishermen during the period of ban on fishing
