Bank employees throughout the country to go on strike tomorrow (29th July)

The bank employees throughout the country are planning a token 1-day strike tomorrow (Friday, 29th July)

There are 5  Associate Banks of the State Bank of India. Bank of Thiruvdangur, Mysore, Patiala, Hyderabad, and Jaipur.

The central government has now decided to merge these 5 associate banks with the State Bank of India. The Bank Employees Association has protested against this and announced plans to go on strike on 12th and 13th July. However, due to an interim order by Delhi High Court, the date for the strike was postponed to 26th September.

In this scenario, the strike is now planned for 1-day on tomorrow (29th July). 10 lakh bank employees are participating all over the country. 80000 bank branches will remain closed.

In Tamil Nadu, 70000 Bank Employees in 8500 Banks will be on strike, Because of this, the banking operations tomorrow may come to a standstill. Cheques transactions and cash transactions etc will be affected. There is a risk of bank activities worth Rs. 1000 Crores may get blocked.

In order to avoid disturbance to the public, all ATMs are being filled with cash. All banks are arranging to fill the ATMs with maximum possible cash today (Thursday. 28th July) afternoon.

All India Bank Employees Association Secretary C H Venkatachalam informed that country-wide strike is planned tomorrow. Bank employees will not be on duty. Services will be affected. Cheques worth thousands of crores of Rupees may get blocked.

A demonstration is planned at 5.30 PM in front of Chennai Anna Salai Oriental Bank pressing for the demands. A demonstration is planned at 10.00 AM near Valluvar Kottam tomorrow (29th July). Thousands of bank employees are participating.
