Commercial operations between Little Mount and Chennai airport to commence soon

Everything has been cleared for the opening of the second stretch of Chennai Metro Rail with the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) approving the service between Little Mount and Chennai airport. CMRS officials inspected the stations and trains from Little Mount and Chennai airport only a few days ago.
The nine-km corridor is part of the airport-Washermanpet corridor which is to be extended to Tiruvottiyur, for which foundation stone was laid a fortnight back. As the 14-km Koyambedu to Alandur line is already operational, this nine- km stretch will connect commuters from CMBT to Chennai airport.
The metro rail could be inaugurated anytime during the third week of August.
