Prolonged spell of rains in Chennai till end of the month

Patchy light rains and thundershowers over the Chennai are expected during the next 24 hours. These rains are likely to intensify from August 26 onward, as a fresh low pressure area is likely to form in west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast. This will be a prolonged spell of rains which is expected to continue till end of the month. However, rains will not be heavy and widespread in nature and many places will get only short spells of rain and thundershowers.
