Snapdeal Gold to compete with Amazon and Flipkart

Posted on: 30/Aug/2016 5:00:12 PM
Competing with Flipkart and Amazon, now, Snapdeal has announced that it will launch a premium service bundle called Snapdeal Gold. This is an upgradation of its service. The update takes place when a user makes payment for his or her purchase except that of Cash on Delivery.

Under this service, customers will not be charged for shipping, regardless of the order value. While the normal purchase protection is seven days, now the date is extended to 14 days. There will be a free upgrade to the next day delivery. There will be 100 percent check for quality on these products.

Out of all its 50 million products sold online, just over 5 million products will fall under this new Snapdeal Gold upgrade all of which are under Snapdeal’s fulfilment centres.

It is to be noted that Amazon, during last week launched Prime, a loyalty membership program. Using this, customers can enjoy free access to deliveries for one or two days.

Snapdeal Gold offers the service for free, but Amazon and Flipkart impose an annual subscription charge of Rs 499 and Rs 500 respectively.

The co-founder of Snapdeal, Rohit Bansal states that their team had met over 10,000 customers across the country to identify the feature that they expect from e-commerce companies. Catering to all their needs, Snapdeal Gold is launched now.

Here, there is no catch i.e. this scheme does not demand any membership fee or annual signup. User’s account will get auto-updated to Snapdeal Gold when he or she uses credit card, debit card, net banking or EMI or wallet to make payment for purchase done with us.

This scheme is promising to bring about a change in the ecommerce sector in India. In our mission to develop the most frictionless and reliable digital commerce ecosystem, we believe this to be a notable milestone.
