CMRL to commence commercial operations between Airport - Little Mount from October

It has been decided to operate train services between Chennai Airport- Little Mount and Alandur-St Thomas Mount from the month of October. The final inspection of the Chennai Metro Rail stretch from Little Mount to Chennai airport was carried out by Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) and RDSO. They have also given clearance certificate.
The path between Airport –Little Mount has been carefully designed because many passengers will be using the service. Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety who inspected the section has pointed out some defects. He has instructed us to modify and rectify this immediately. Now this work is going on a war footing.
The trial run for the stretch of the Chennai Metro Rail service between Little Mount and Chennai airport is being carried out intensively. Now the tests regarding to stability of tracks, signaling and communications are underway.
Six railway stations between airport and Little Mount have been completed. After ascertaining from Central Government it has been decided to commence the commercial operations from the month of October.
