Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa inaugurated the Metro rail public service between Chennai Airport and Little Mount through video conferencing,
CM Jayalalithaa flagged off 197 new government buses in an inaugural function conducted at the Chief Secretariat at 11.00 AM.
At 11.30 AM, the chief minister Jayalalithaa inaugurated the Metro Rail Public Service between Chennai Airport and Little Mount through Video-conferencing facility.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Metro Rail Stations at Airport, Meenambakkam, Nanganallur Road, Guindy, Little Mount, and St. Thomas Mount.
The Metro Rail section between Little Mount and Chennai Airport is 8.6 km long.The work was completed a month ago and test runs were being conducted.
The public service commenced today (Wednesday, 21st September). In today’s inaugural service, the first train started from the Airport station without any VIPs or passengers.
In the next train, Central Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Pon Radhakrishnan and other VIPs and press reporters were taken. The train for the passengers will be operated later.
It is expected that the trains will be operated every 15 minutes in this section.
It is worth noting here that the first Metro service between Alandur and Koyambedu commenced in June 2015.
