Officials of CMRL have mentioned that very soon, direct trains will be run on the loop line available at Alandur so that direct train connections can be provided from Koyambedu to the airport, without the passengers having to change at Alandur.

Chennai Metro Rail`s Corridor 1 was partially inaugurated recently, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister open the passenger service on the second elevated corridor, covering a distance of 8.6 km from the Airport to Little Mount Station. The newly commissioned stretch covers a distance of nine km between Airport Station and Little Mount Station comprising of six important stations including Airport Station, Meenambakkam Metro Station, Nanganallur Road Station, Alandur Station, Guindy Metro Station and Little Mount Station. Significant numbers of passengers are travelling from these stations. Like the earlier metro stations, these stations also have amenities such as air condition, lift and escalators. Commuters are very much comfortable with these amenities.

Metro rails are being operated daily between 8 am and 10 pm. Trains are operated every 10 minutes. People are finding innovative experience while travelling a 1 km distance underground path between Meenambakkam and Chennai Airport. As of now, commuters who want to travel from Koyambedu to Chennai airport will have to change trains at Alandur station. The only complaint by commuters, so far, has been the need to change trains at Alandur.  Commuters also wanted to lower the ticket fares.
